Lothar Matthaus’ choice to invest in Accra Lions, according to Sammy Kuffour, demonstrates that Ghana has a lot of talent.
On Tuesday, May 23, an event in Accra was held to officially introduce the former FIFA World Player of the Year as one of three new owners of the Ghana Premier League club, with the ex-player now holding the majority interest.
Kuffour, who played alongside Lothar, described the reasoning behind the World Cup winner’s visit to Ghana at an event at the German Ambassador’s residence on Tuesday night.
“I feel blessed to know [Lothar Matthaus] as a person and also for him to come to Ghana,” he said.
“There are so many opportunities that they could go to any other country [but] they chose Ghana. That tells you there is something here that we have to take care of.”
