Former Ghanaian international Asamoah Gyan has endorsed Mohammed Kudus as the ideal figure to lead the Black Stars team forward.
Gyan emphasized that Kudus’s outstanding performances for both his club, West Ham United, and the national team justify building the squad around him.
Since his debut in 2019, Kudus has garnered significant support from fans and has demonstrated his prowess with nine goals in 26 appearances for the Black Stars.
Highlighting the need to center the team around Kudus, Gyan stated, “So far it’s obvious – Mohammed Kudus. During my era, we had a lot of good players and eventually, it got to my turn.”
He continued, “At the moment, it’s Mohammed Kudus. He’s the only Ghanaian player performing well now in Europe, and he is doing it in the Premier League.”
Gyan emphasized Kudus’s exceptional performance both domestically and internationally, asserting that he deserves unwavering support from fans and the national team management.
“Even in Africa, he is the only one doing so well in Europe. So we have to just support him.”
Kudus’s stellar debut season with West Ham has seen him score 12 goals and provide 5 assists in 36 games during the 2023/24 campaign.
