Asante Kotoko technical director Malik Jabir has vowed to tackle the club’s persistent struggles in front of goal as they prepare for the much-anticipated Super Clash against Hearts of Oak on December 15.
The Porcupine Warriors recently ended a six-game winless streak with a morale-boosting 2-0 victory over Aduana FC. Despite the positive result, Jabir remains focused on improving the team’s efficiency in converting chances, a challenge that has plagued Kotoko throughout the season.
Speaking about his plans to address the issue, Jabir highlighted the importance of refining both shooting accuracy and set-piece execution.
“You play a shot at the goalkeeper—you have seen that, and I have also noted it. It means we have to deal with shooting,” Jabir stated.
“We played seven corner kicks and didn’t score any goals. This means I’ll have to remind the players and find ways to polish our corner kicks or spot kicks in general. This is my job,” he added.
Jabir reiterated his commitment to ensuring the players capitalize on every opportunity, whether in open play or from dead-ball situations.
With the Super Clash just days away, Kotoko fans are eager to see how these improvements translate on the pitch as their team seeks to deliver a decisive performance against their arch-rivals.
