Despite Crystal Palace’s home defeat to champions Manchester City on Saturday, Pep Guardiola, the Manchester City boss, praised Jordan Ayew for his impressive performance.
The Eagles hosted Man City at Selhurst Park, and Ayew continued his excellent form for the home team until Michael Olise’s late challenge on Ilkay Gundogan resulted in a penalty for the visitors, which Erling Haaland scored.
After the game, Guardiola praised Palace’s fighting spirit and commended Ayew and Zaha for their impact on the game, despite the home defeat. Unfortunately, the defeat extended Palace’s winless run in the league to 10 matches, the longest in the division, leaving Patrick Vieira’s side just four points above the relegation places.
“It is always tricky playing here [Selhurst Park],” told Sky Sports.
“We are always confident playing at home but I always have this belief that it is always tricky here.
“The way they play and run is just incredible. Jordan Ayew and Zaha are incredible players.
“They are always running and creating spaces for the team,” he added.
In the meantime, Jordan Ayew has been selected for the Black Stars squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) doubleheader against Angola later this month.
