Darko Gyabi says his years at Manchester City transformed him into the midfielder he is today, crediting the club’s intense environment and technical demands for sharpening his game.
The Hull City midfielder revealed that training daily against elite youth talents forced him to grow quickly.
“You get taught to be really comfortable on the ball under pressure. You play against the best players in training every day, and the level of competition makes you improve,” he said.
Gyabi believes this system explains why so many former City academy players flourish across Europe.
“Whether it’s at Man City’s first team or in different first teams, there are so many players who have gone through the system and are doing well. That’s the level of detail and competition … that’s the biggest difference.”
Now thriving at Hull, Gyabi says City gave him foundations that continue to guide his progress.
