English-born Ghanaian midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has been named in WhoScored’s Premier League U21 Team of the Season.
The 18-year-old has had a fascinating breakthrough season with Manchester United, becoming a mainstay in the team and delivering scintillating performances. Mainoo has played 32 games across all competitions this season, scoring four goals.
In a season marked by Manchester United’s historic low finish of eighth place, Mainoo has been a bright spot. His stellar form has also earned him a spot in the England squad for the Euros.
In March 2024, Mainoo received his inaugural senior squad call-up for England’s friendlies against Brazil and Belgium, transitioning from previous appearances with the under-21s.
He made his debut at 18 years old on March 23, 2024, as a 75th-minute substitute in a 1–0 loss to Brazil at Wembley Stadium.
Subsequently, Mainoo secured his first England start against Belgium, earning praise for his performance.
