Mark Addo has announced his intention to run for re-election as Vice President in the upcoming Ghana Football Association (GFA) elections.

During the 29th GFA Ordinary Congress, Addo, who currently serves as the Vice President of the GFA confirmed his intention to run for re-election in an exclusive interview with Ohene Bampoe Brenya of Happy FM. Addo made the announcement during the interview, revealing his plans to continue serving in his current role.

He highlighted his commitment to the development and growth of Ghanaian football and his willingness to contribute further to the sport.

The GFA elections, which will determine the leadership of the association, are eagerly anticipated by the football community in Ghana. Addo’s decision to run for re-election sets the stage for a competitive race, as candidates vie for key positions within the GFA.

As the election process unfolds, football stakeholders and enthusiasts will closely follow the campaigns and manifestos of the candidates, seeking to elect individuals who will lead the GFA with integrity and prioritize the advancement of Ghanaian football.

Mark Addo assumed office as a member of the Executive Council of the FA in 2019. His role as Vice President was to support and assist president Kurt Okraku, who was elected to lead the FA following the suspension of football activities due to the revelations in an investigative documentary by journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

Addo’s election into the Executive Council marked a significant step in the process of rebuilding and reorganizing Ghanaian football after the tumultuous period that followed the documentary’s release.

Despite being considered underdogs by the media, Mark Addo managed to secure victory in a fiercely contested race against strong contenders Randy Abbey and Dr. Toni Aubynn. Addo’s triumph defied the media’s predictions and highlighted his strength as a candidate in the competition.

As his term nears its end in October, Mark Addo, the Director of second-tier team Nzema Kotoko, has set his sights on retaining his position in the upcoming FA elections. Addo will be seeking another term to continue his contributions to Ghanaian football administration.
