Marvin Senaya has officially committed his international future to Ghana after reporting to the Black Stars camp in Vienna, bringing an end to a heated nationality battle between Ghana and Togo.
The AJ Auxerre defender joined his teammates on Monday as preparations intensify ahead of upcoming international friendlies against Austria and Germany.
His decision follows a dual call-up that had sparked widespread debate, with Togo head coach Patrice Neveu earlier naming him in his squad and suggesting the player had given a verbal assurance to represent the Sparrow Hawks.
That claim was influenced by Senaya’s background, being the son of former Togolese international Yao Mawuko Senaya. However, Ghana’s football authorities succeeded in securing his allegiance, with the player opting to represent his maternal heritage.
He shared his excitement on social media, expressing pride and happiness over his first invitation to the national team, while affirming his readiness to contribute to the squad.
The 25-year-old, who has made 20 appearances and scored once for AJ Auxerre this season, is expected to strengthen Ghana’s defensive options.
His presence in camp confirms his full commitment to the Black Stars, effectively putting an end to all uncertainty surrounding his international allegiance.
