After the men’s competition at the AFCON 2021 in Cameroon, the ladies version will soon be honored with the Women’s African Cup of Nations taking place in Morocco (July 2 to 23.)
And as a prelude to this celebration of African women’s football, the African Confederation of football (CAF) unveiled the tournament’s official mascot this Wednesday, June 22 with the his name: TITRIT.
TITRIT, mascot of this 12th edition, is a lioness in reference to the Lions and Lionesses of the Atlas of Morocco, undeniable symbol of power and courage.
It should also be noted that TITRIT is an Amazigh Moroccan first name which means “star” or “celebrity” and which characterizes a proud, dignified, rigorous and determined person.
The Mascot is beautifully dressed in the colors of the Moroccan national team, and on her head majestically sits a traditional Moroccan jewel in the shape of an ornate tiara.
In an authentic and modern style, the Moroccan jewels and the traditional cape (Selham) of TITRIT give it a certain feminine majesty.
The football boots on her feet are a reminder that she is here to play and ready to contribute to the festive atmosphere of the AFCON in the proud North African host country.
Her raised fist symbolizes the determination and tenacity shown by female footballers against their opponents, qualities that will be necessary for the titanic fights that await them at the Women’s AFCON 2022.
