The Black Galaxies of Ghana secured victories in two competitive friendly matches this morning at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence in Prampram, as part of their preparations for the 2025 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers.
In the first encounter, the Galaxies edged Nania FC 1-0. Nania, owned by Ghanaian football legend Abedi Ayew ‘Pele,’ gave a strong challenge, but Jerry Afriyie’s goal proved to be the match-winner. Following the match, Abedi Pele took the opportunity to speak to both the Black Galaxies and the Black Maidens, who are also in camp preparing for the inaugural WAFU Zone B Girls U-17 Championship.
Coach Mas-ud Didi Dramani fielded a robust lineup, including goalkeeper Appiah Kubi, Simba Sylvester, and Black Stars quartet Razak Simpson, Isaac Afful, Emmanuel Antwi, and Jerry Afriyie.
In the second game, the Black Galaxies delivered a dominant performance, defeating Northern City FC 5-0. Stephen Amankona scored a hat-trick, while Hamza Issah and Abdul Rahman added to the tally, completing a comprehensive win.
These friendlies served as a crucial test for the Black Galaxies as they fine-tune their preparations for the upcoming CHAN qualifiers. Ghana will face Nigeria in a highly anticipated two-legged fixture, with the first leg set for December 22 at the Accra Sports Stadium and the return leg on December 28 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
