Ampem Darkoa Ladies showcased their dominance in the semifinals of the Women’s FA Cup by scoring five goals against Army Ladies, securing a place in their third consecutive final.
Mary Amponsah delivered an outstanding performance, netting a remarkable haul, while Tracy Twum added the fifth goal to lead Ampem Darkoa Ladies to a resounding 5-1 victory at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex on Saturday.
Army Ladies started the match strongly and took the lead in the opening twenty minutes when Adama Alhassan’s free kick eluded Ayishetu Fatao and found the back of the net.
However, Ampem Darkoa Ladies swiftly responded with a swift counter-attack, resulting in Mary Amponsah equalizing in the 25th minute.
After the halftime break, Mary Amponsah continued to shine and extended the lead for the defending champions in the 48th minute.
Army Ladies fought to level the score, but Ampem Darkoa Ladies capitalized on their opponent’s vulnerabilities. In the 62nd minute, Ophelia Serwaa Amponsah provided an assist to Tracy Twum, who confidently scored, further extending Ampem Darkoa Ladies’ advantage.
Mary Amponsah’s incredible performance continued as she completed her hat trick in the 73rd minute before adding another goal in the 78th minute, showcasing her prowess up front.
In the final of the 2022/2023 Women’s FA Cup, Ampem Darkoa Ladies will face off against Police Ladies, setting the stage for an exciting showdown between the two teams.
The highly anticipated final is scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 18, 2023.
