Ampem Darkoa Ladies, the reigning champions from Ghana, have progressed to the semifinals of the ongoing qualifiers for the West Africa Zone B Women’s Champions League.

Securing their spot in the semis on a Friday evening, they triumphed over Athletico de Abidjan with a commanding score of 3-1, marking their second consecutive victory following a previous win against Togo’s Amis Du Monde, where they emerged victorious with a score of 4-2.

Mary Amponsah’s remarkable hat-trick proved pivotal in propelling Ampem Darkoa to their second triumph and ensuring their qualification for the semifinals.

Ampem Darkoa showcased their determination from the outset, taking the lead in the 2nd minute through a splendid finish by Mary Amponsah, securing the opening goal for her team.

In the 15th minute, the prolific attacker extended their lead by skillfully converting a well-placed cross, thereby securing her second goal of the evening.

During the initial half-hour, Athletico de Abidjan faced evident challenges, and Ampem Darkoa further solidified their control over the match by notching a third goal.

Ophelia, operating from the right wing, facilitated the third goal with a splendid pass to Amponsah, who secured her hat-trick.

Despite a resilient resurgence from Athletico de Abidjan, who managed to score in the 83rd minute, the match concluded with a score of 3-1 favoring Ampem Darkoa.

Mary Amponsah’s exceptional performance earned her the Most Valuable Player accolade for the evening, complementing the recognition she previously garnered in the match against Amis Du Monde.

This progress signifies that the reigning champions of the Ghana Women’s Premier League are on track in their pursuit of a place in the CAF Women’s Champions League. The WAFU B Cup serves as the qualifying pathway for this tournament.

Impressively, Mary Amponsah of Ampem Darkoa has accumulated a total of 7 goals across two games in the tournament, building on her previous four-goal achievement against Amis Du Monde from Togo in the initial match.

In Group B, the Ghanaian team was paired against Athletico de Abidjan and Togo’s Amis Du Monde.
