Asante Kotoko emerged victorious in a thrilling encounter against Hearts of Oak on Wednesday night, securing a 2-1 win to claim the inaugural Democracy Cup trophy.
The Porcupine Warriors traveled to the capital with a mission to bring the trophy back to Kumasi, and they did just that in a hard-fought match at Accra Sports Stadium.

Hearts of Oak, however, quickly equalized early in the second half through Asamoah Boateng Afriyie’s controversial header, which led to a medical scare for Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Frederick Asare.
In a tense battle for supremacy, Asante Kotoko ultimately emerged victorious with Peter Amidu scoring a fantastic goal to secure the win and lift the trophy as champions of the Democracy Cup.
