The Porcupine Warriors heightened their preparations for the upcoming season by engaging in a friendly match against a team from the third-tier league on Sunday morning.
Asante Kotoko, who have been situated in Nsuta Beposo for the past few weeks, experienced an exciting 1-1 draw against Kharis Sports Academy during a pre-season friendly held at the K.K Sarpong Sports Complex.
Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum presented a robust starting lineup, featuring some of the club’s newly acquired players from this transfer window.
Despite the presence of several star players in the Premier League side, it was Ebenezer Kobina of Kharis Sports Academy who took the spotlight by netting a splendid goal in the middle of the first half.
Throughout the remaining minutes of the first half, Asante Kotoko attempted multiple times to even the score, but their endeavors proved fruitless.
The second half saw Asante Kotoko making alterations to their lineup, introducing players like Richmond Lamptey, Enoch Morrison, Eric Serge Zeze, and others, all in the hopes of securing an early equalizer and adding more goals to their tally.
Nonetheless, the lower-tier team held their ground against every offensive move launched by the Porcupine Warriors, thwarting their advances until a defensive lapse allowed Eric Serge Zeze to level the score in the 89th minute of the game.
In a few hours, Asante Kotoko is scheduled to face Kumasi Cornerstone FC in yet another pre-season friendly at the Dr. K.K Sarpong Sports Complex.
