Faith Ladies maintained their quest for the title with a 1-0 victory over Northern Ladies in their second match of the ongoing Women’s League Super Cup in Kyebi.
The reigning champions owed their victory to Emmanuella Johnson, who scored the lone goal of the match with a close-range strike.
Although Northern Ladies had control of the game, they failed to capitalize on their opportunities, resulting in a goalless first half. Both teams returned from the break with a determination to outperform each other, but Faith Ladies gained the upper hand thanks to Johnson. She capitalized on a goalmouth scramble to push the ball over the line in the 69th minute after Northern Ladies struggled to clear Matilda Damoah’s corner kick.
Northern Ladies did create some chances later in the game, but Faith Ladies’ defense held firm, securing a 1-0 victory for the defending champions.
Faith Ladies remain unbeaten and currently lead Group A with six points after an impressive start to the competition.
The second match of the day, scheduled for 3:00 pm, will feature League Champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies against Army Ladies.
