Hearts of Oak’s hopes of clinching the MTN FA Cup this season have been dashed as they suffered a defeat to Nania FC in the Round 64 stage of the domestic cup competition.
In today’s clash against the lower-tier club, the Phobians sought a win to progress to the Round 32 stage. However, after a goalless 90 minutes, the game was forced into a penalty shootout.
Nania FC emerged victorious with a 4-3 score, securing their place in the Round 32 of the 2023/24 MTN FA Cup at the expense of Hearts of Oak.
This outcome adds to the challenges faced by Hearts of Oak since the departure of coach Samuel Boadu. During Boadu’s tenure, the team secured back-to-back MTN FA Cup titles and lifted the Ghana Premier League trophy.
However, since his exit, Hearts of Oak has been unable to clinch any trophies.
