Asante Kotoko kicked off the new season with a disappointing goalless draw at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
Despite their hopes for a more successful campaign following their fourth-place finish in the previous season, Kotoko couldn’t secure a victory in their opening match.
Coach Prosper Ogum’s team faced a determined Heart of Lions side, who, despite being newly promoted, displayed no fear and effectively thwarted the Porcupine Warriors.
Lions managed to force Kotoko goalkeeper Frederick Asare into making several decent saves, while Kotoko struggled to find composure in their attacking efforts.
Although the match ended without any goals, it didn’t truly reflect the numerous scoring opportunities that both sides had.
Asante Kotoko’s next fixture will see them travel to Bibiani to take on Goldstars, while Heart of Lions will face Great Olympics in Sogakope.
