In their season opener, Samartex secured a 1-0 victory against Aduana Stars at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena in Samreboi on Sunday afternoon.
Under the guidance of their new coach, Nurudeen Amadu, Samartex clinched their first win, replicating their 1-0 victory against Aduana in the previous season.
The decisive goal came in the 33rd minute when newly signed Michael Ephson marked his Samartex debut with success. Emmanuel Keyekeh, a midfielder, delivered a precise long pass to Baba Hamadu Musa, who skillfully controlled the ball and chipped it towards the goal. Despite hitting the post with a stunning effort, Musa’s rebound was calmly tucked away by Michael Ephson.
Aduana Stars emerged as a stronger side in the second half but failed to find the net as their forwards struggled to convert the chances they created.
With no points, Aduana Stars will return to Dormaa Ahenkro to prepare for their upcoming home fixture against reigning champions Medeama SC.
On the other hand, the Timber Boys from Samartex will head to Kumasi to face newly promoted side Nations FC at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.
