Asante Kotoko secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Asekem FC in a preseason friendly held at the Dr. K.K Sarpong Sports Complex, thanks to a first-half goal by Bernard Somuah.
This triumph came as a redemption effort following their earlier goalless draw with PAC Academy on the same grounds earlier in the day.
Despite their commanding possession and overall dominance throughout the encounter, the Porcupine Warriors encountered difficulties in converting their chances into goals.
However, their persistence paid off as they managed to break the deadlock just moments before the end of the first half. It was the young talent Bernard Somuah who delivered the much-desired goal, providing the team with the breakthrough they had been striving for after a series of relentless attacks.
Asekem FC displayed a marked improvement in this match, impressing with their performance. They had notably progressed significantly from their previous encounter against the giants, during which they suffered a 3-1 defeat in a match played several seasons ago.
This preseason friendly marked Asante Kotoko’s fourth match since reassembling for their preseason preparations. While they acknowledge the importance of positive outcomes, their primary focus remains on refining their preparations in anticipation of the upcoming season. The team is committed to ensuring they are fully equipped and ready to tackle the challenges ahead.
