Mawell Woledzi’s Fredrikstad seals Norwegian top flight promotion with four games to spare

Ghanaian defender Maxwell Woledzi has secured promoted to the Norwegian top flight with Fredrikstad FK.

Following their 4-0 victory on Sunday, the Division One side secured their place in next season’s top-flight tournament.

Fredrikstad defeated Asane away from home in their 26th first-division match to take a seven-point lead at the top of the league.

Woledzi joined the club from Vitoria Guimaraes in the summer transfer window, signing a three-year contract extension until 2026.

With four games remaining till the end of the 2023 season, Fredrikstad will be competing for the top spot after gaining promotion.
