Former Black Stars assistant coach Maxwell Konadu believes Ghana’s current squad has the quality needed to shine at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The senior national team boosted their chances of qualifying for the tournament — which will be jointly hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico next year — by securing back-to-back victories during the March international break.
Ghana thrashed Chad 5-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium before claiming a comfortable 3-0 win over Madagascar in Morocco.
With just four matches remaining in the qualifying campaign, Konadu is confident that the Black Stars are on the right path to securing a spot at the World Cup. He also expressed optimism that the team could make a strong impact at the tournament.
“Talking to coaches from other countries, they believe Ghana can go far,” Konadu said in an interview with Graphic Sports.
“They know the talent we have — it’s just surprising sometimes how we underperform. But if we get it right, we can make the continent proud,” he added.
The Black Stars are set to regroup in September for their Matchday 7 and 8 fixtures, where they will face Chad and Mali. They will then wrap up their qualification series with games against Comoros and the Central African Republic.
