The Tarkwa and Aboso Stadium is on track to be operational by March 2024, as confirmed by the Goldfields Ghana Foundation, which is providing funding for the project.
During a media briefing organized by the Goldfields Ghana Foundation at the TnA Stadium, Project Manager Roger Adama stated that the venue is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2024.
Adama outlined the remaining tasks to be completed before the facility can be handed over to the Municipal Assembly and the National Sports Authority. These tasks include finishing the playing pitch, external works such as car parks, walkways, connecting to public utility services, horticultural landscaping, removal and refitting of clear sheets, installation of floodlights, and other essential components.
The project commenced three years ago, and the Goldfields Ghana Foundation has invested over US$13 million in the stadium out of a budgeted total of US$16 million.
The delay in completing the stadium construction means that Medeama Sporting Club will not be able to use the facility for their CAF Champions League group games scheduled to begin in November 2023.
