Joseph Tetteh Zutah, the Administrative Manager of Medeama SC, has laid out the team’s ambitious goal of reaching the quarterfinals in the 2023/24 CAF Champions League, despite their initial setback with a 3-0 defeat to Al Ahly on the opening day in Cairo.
In an interview, Zutah expressed the team’s determination, stating, “The focus is to try as much as possible to qualify out of the group; we know it will not be an easy task, but we hope to do that.”
The Ghanaian champions are gearing up to host Algerian side CR Belouizdad in their second group game at the Baba Yara Stadium on Friday, December 1.
Zutah emphasized the significance of the upcoming home fixtures, saying, “Fortunately for us, we are playing two games at home against Belouizdad and Yanga SC here, and if we are able to win both two games, we have 6 points, and then we will see how we can pick results from other centers.”
Despite the challenging road ahead, Zutah remains optimistic about Medeama’s chances, assuring that the team will leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of success.
He acknowledged the competitive nature of the tournament but believes that with strategic wins, Medeama can position themselves favorably in the group.
“The CAF Champions League is a tough competition, and we respect the opponents, but we are also aware of our capabilities and potential,” Zutah added, underscoring the team’s confidence in overcoming challenges.
As the team prepares for their crucial clash against CR Belouizdad, Zutah’s optimism serves as a testament to Medeama’s resilience and determination to make a mark in the prestigious continental tournament.
Kick-off for the game is scheduled at 16:00 GMT, setting the stage for a compelling contest as Medeama seeks to bounce back and set their course for a successful campaign.
