Ghana Premier League outfit Medeama SC have completed the signing of experienced Sudan international goalkeeper Monged El Neel Abuzaid Salman on a free transfer as they continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The 30-year-old goalkeeper arrives in Tarkwa following the expiration of his contract with South Sudanese side El Merriekh Bentiu, where he featured during the 2025/26 campaign after joining the club in July 2025.
El Neel brings a wealth of experience to the former Ghana Premier League champions, having previously enjoyed successful spells with Hilal Al Sahil and Sudanese giants Al Merrikh SC between 2017 and 2023.
The Sudanese shot-stopper has built an impressive continental résumé, making 18 appearances across the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup, experience Medeama hope will prove invaluable as they chase success in domestic and continental competitions.
His commanding presence, shot-stopping ability and leadership qualities are expected to strengthen Medeama’s goalkeeping department ahead of what promises to be a demanding campaign.
On the international stage, El Neel has established himself as one of Sudan’s most reliable goalkeepers.
He was Sudan’s first-choice goalkeeper at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, playing all three group-stage matches as the Falcons of Jediane advanced to the Round of 16.
The experienced goalkeeper also featured prominently during Sudan’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, making three appearances as the East African nation battled for a place at the global showpiece.
Since making his senior international debut against Senegal in 2018, El Neel has accumulated 10 caps for Sudan.
The signing represents another major statement by Medeama as the Tarkwa-based club continues its aggressive recruitment drive ahead of the new Ghana Premier League season.
Club officials are banking on El Neel’s international pedigree, CAF experience and leadership to provide stability between the posts as the Mauve and Yellow target a return to the summit of Ghanaian football.
With preparations for the 2026/27 campaign gathering momentum, Medeama believe the arrival of the seasoned Sudan international significantly strengthens their squad and adds valuable experience to a team eager to compete for silverware.
