The race for the Ghana Premier League title took another exciting twist on Wednesday after Medeama SC suffered a painful 2-1 defeat to Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park.

Medeama made a bright start and took the lead in the 12th minute through Kelvin Nkrumah after a good assist from Salim Adams. The visitors looked in control early in the game, but Berekum Chelsea responded strongly to turn the match around.

Seidu Abubakar scored the equaliser before Jonah Attuguaye netted the winning goal in the second half to hand Chelsea a crucial victory. The result boosted the home side’s fight against relegation while cutting Medeama’s lead at the top of the table to only two points with three matches remaining.

Bibiani Gold Stars moved closer to the summit after securing an important win over FC Samartex 1996 at Dun’s Park. Michael Nkoah scored twice in the first half to give Gold Stars a valuable victory and revive their title hopes.

In Wenchi, Young Apostles strengthened their survival chances with an impressive 3-1 victory against Vision FC. Samuel Prempeh, Richmond Opoku and Samuel Amankwah all found the net in a strong performance from the hosts.

Swedru All Blacks also enjoyed a comfortable afternoon after thrashing already relegated Eleven Wonders 5-1 at the Swedru Sports Complex. Frank Awere and Hafiz Alhassan both scored two goals each in the emphatic victory.

Basake Holy Stars continued their excellent home form with a 2-0 win over Aduana FC. Goals from Jacob Boazee and Prince Tweneboah secured another important victory for Holy Stars while ending Aduana’s fading title hopes.

At the Accra Sports Stadium, Hearts of Oak were frustrated by Karela United in a goalless draw. Karela goalkeeper Daniel Afadzwu produced several brilliant saves to deny Hearts all three points.

Nations FC boosted their campaign with a narrow 1-0 away victory against Heart of Lions in Kpando. Kelvin Ampoful scored the only goal before halftime as Nations held on for an important win.

Dreams FC continued their impressive recent form with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Bechem United. Mohammed Shaban and Abdul Razak Salifu scored for Dreams FC as they strengthened their push for a top-five finish.

With only a few matches left, the battle for the league title and survival is becoming more intense across the Ghana Premier League.
