Football governing body (FIFA) have just introduced the new format for the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States of America in the Summer of 2025 for 32 clubs across the world.
The introduction of the new format will benefit Africa and other Federations in terms of number of clubs representation and financial gains for the various clubs. The new format will make the winner of the 2023/2024 season partake in the tournament as well as the highest ranked club on the African Continent.
Medeama, Ghana’s representative in the ongoing Champions league can become the first Ghanaian club to achieve the feat by qualifying for the prestigious tournament if they conquer Africa.
Top clubs like Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester City have already booked their slot for the competition due to winning the European Champions League in the past three years.
Depending on prize money and the size of broadcast and marketing deals, participating clubs are expected to make about £50m from the tournament.
