Asante Kotoko remain one of the favorites to secure the Ghana Premier League title this season, but with the title race heating up, the Porcupine Warriors will need to step up their game and secure crucial points in their upcoming fixtures.
Kotoko will face off against regional rivals Nations FC in an important derby on Sunday, April 20, at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, with the match set to kick off at 3:00 PM.
Currently sitting third in the league standings with 47 points, Kotoko are just three points behind leaders Bibiani Gold Stars, who hold a narrow advantage. A win over Nations FC would see the Porcupine Warriors climb into second place, as their opponents occupy that position with 48 points.
Kotoko, who suffered a humbling 3-0 defeat at the hands of Accra Lions in midweek, are well aware that their title hopes remain in their own hands, but they must put together a strong finish to the season.
Head coach Prosper Ogum acknowledged the importance of the upcoming matches, stressing the need for mental resilience. “There are still several games to play, and anything can happen. Football is unpredictable. We need to focus and stay mentally strong. With seven games remaining, we can’t afford to let our guard down,” Ogum said.
“We have to stay mentally tough and work together to finish the season strongly,” he added, emphasizing the importance of staying composed in the final stretch of the campaign.
