Sky Bet League Two side Barrow Football Club, have confirmed a season-long loan signing of Ghanaian forward Michael Adu-Poku from Championship side Watford.

The 19-year-old is set to reunite with Head Coach Andy Whing after spending the first half of last season on loan at Solihull Moors in the National League.

The pacey winger came through the youth ranks at Vicarage Road, making his professional debut for Watford in January 2023 after coming on as a substitute during an FA Cup tie against Reading.

Adu-Poku made two further appearances for their first team in the Championship before heading out on a series of loan deals.

His first loan came in the second half of the 2023/2024 season, when he joined Kings Langley, where in his four games for the non-league side, he scored twice.

A further loan spell to National League South side, Maidstone United, followed at the tail end of the 2023/2024 season, before he joined Solihull on loan in the summer of 2024.

An impressive 13-game stint at Solihull during the first half of the 2024/2025 campaign in the Midlands followed, before he finished off the season on loan at Rochdale.

Michael has now signed a deal with The Bluebirds on loan until the end of the season.

Speaking about reuniting with Andy Whing and Craig Pead, he said: “Obviously, being with them at Solihull, they contributed towards my progression in men’s football and gave me a lot of opportunities, so them bringing me here is a great compliment.”

Andy Whing added: “Having worked with Michael previously, I’m delighted to be able to bring him in and work with him again.

“He provides out-and-out pace and gives us something completely different to what we’ve already got.

“I’d like to extend a big thanks to Watford for trusting us and me again in aiding Michael’s development this year.”
