Plymouth Argyle’s head of recruitment, Jim Dickinson, has confirmed that the club has secured the signature of Ghanaian midfielder Michael Baidoo from Swedish side IF Elfsborg.
The 25-year-old joins the English Championship outfit in a record-breaking transfer, marking a significant milestone for both the club and player.
Expressing his excitement, Dickinson revealed that Baidoo has been on the club’s radar for over a year.
“Michael is someone we have been aware of for a long time, and I am delighted that we have finally been able to bring him to Argyle,” Dickinson said.
“He comes with excellent pedigree, having starred in Elfsborg’s Europa League campaign this season and recently earning his first cap for Ghana.
“Michael’s versatility will be a major asset, as he can play in multiple positions. Most importantly, he chose Argyle over other top European clubs.
“He is eager to make an impact in English football, and we believe he will do just that. I’d like to thank Simon and the board for their support in securing this record deal, and I’m looking forward to seeing Michael on the pitch soon.”
Baidoo, who will wear the number 30 jersey, had a standout season for Elfsborg in 2024, scoring 10 goals in 27 league appearances and helping the team to a seventh-place finish in the Swedish Allsvenskan.
The signing represents a significant boost for Plymouth Argyle as they look to strengthen their squad for the ongoing campaign.
