Michael Baidoo, a midfielder for Elfsborg, earned his first cap for the Ghana national team, known as the Black Stars.
He came on as a substitute in the final ten minutes of their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier match against Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium on October 10, 2024.
Ghana, who were looking for a late goal, couldn’t break through Sudan’s strong defense and the match ended in a scoreless draw.
Baidoo received a last-minute call-up to the national team after several players, including the captain, dropped out. Although he entered the game late, Baidoo demonstrated potential, contributing offensively and helping Ghana create scoring opportunities in the closing moments of the match.
Baidoo, a former youth star is part of the team for their upcoming match in Libya. Ghana remain winless in their games played so far in the qualifiers and had two points from three matches.
The Black Stars are currently with just two points and are sitting third in Group F with after three games, the four-time African champions face a challenging situation.
