The Ghana Football Association (GFA) recently announced the establishment of the Black Stars’ technical staff, two months after the Chris Hughton-led team was sacked following their poor performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
However, former Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien when approached by head coach Otto Addo reportedly refused to accept the role of assistant for the national team.
Reliable sources reaching our outfit indicate that Otto wanted Michael Essien on his technical staff.
However, the current assistant coach of FC Nordsjaelland has turned down the offer of the current Ghana coach.
Indeed, he wants to focus on his club Nordsjaelland in order to perfect his training. He has not given his back to the nation but wants to come at the right time, as he hopes seal a move to one of Chelsea’s youth teams.
Meanwhile, Ghana will face Nigeria and Uganda in the upcoming FIFA international friendlies later this month.
