Former Ghanaian football star, Michael Essien, has been confirmed as a participant in the upcoming charity match between Chelsea Legends and Bayern Munich Legends, scheduled to take place in September this year.
The highly anticipated match will be held on September 9th at Stamford Bridge, the home ground of Chelsea FC in England.
Michael Essien took to Twitter to promote the event, emphasizing that the match aims to raise funds for charity as a tribute to the late Gianluca Vialli.
“Chelsea FC Legends of Europe will see Chelsea take on FC Bayern at Stamford Bridge! Tickets are on sale now with proceeds going to the clubs’ foundations and the Royal Marsden in tribute to Gianluca Vialli,” Essien shared on Twitter.
This won’t be the first time Essien has participated in charity matches for Chelsea, having been involved in similar events in the past. He is fondly remembered for his successful tenure at the club, during which he contributed to winning numerous trophies, including Chelsea’s first-ever UEFA Champions League title.
The upcoming charity match promises to be an exciting event, bringing together former football stars to support charitable causes and entertain fans at the iconic Stamford Bridge stadium.
