Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise has shared his thoughts after going up against his former teammate, Jeffrey Schlupp, in Bayern’s UEFA Champions League clash against Celtic FC.
The German giants left it late at the Allianz Arena, with Alphonso Davies scoring a crucial equalizer to secure a 1-1 draw. The result ensured Bayern’s progression to the Round of 16, ending Celtic’s hopes of advancing.
Olise played a vital role in the decisive moment, delivering the cross that Davies converted to seal Bayern’s place in the knockout stage. Speaking about the game, the French winger highlighted the unique experience of playing against his former teammate.
“Against Jeff (Schlupp) as well, played with him for three years. Obviously, he knows a lot about me and he knows what I like to do, it was a good match-up and I enjoyed it,” he told CBS Golazo.
Schlupp, who joined Celtic on loan from Crystal Palace during the winter transfer window, has quickly become an important player under manager Brendan Rodgers.
Meanwhile, Olise made his own high-profile move last summer, swapping Crystal Palace for Bayern Munich after a stellar season in the English Premier League.
His performance in the Champions League has further justified Bayern’s decision to sign him, as he continues to make an impact on the European stage.
