Former Bibiani Goldstars coach Michael Osei has outlined his insights on how the Black Stars can shine at the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
As Ghana seeks its fifth continental trophy, last secured in 1982, the team is gearing up for competition in Ivory Coast next month within Group B alongside Cape Verde, Egypt, and Mozambique.
In a discussion with Footballghana.com, Michael Osei emphasized that the key to success lies in the team’s discipline, determination, and commitment. He believes that by going the extra mile, the Black Stars can tap into their potential and deliver an impressive performance at the tournament.
“The team has to go and work an extra mile, be determined, disciplined, and committed. We still have potential in our team that hopefully we can do better,” he conveyed to Footballghana.com.
In a shift from their initial plans, the Ghana Football Association has opted to conduct the team’s preparation for the tournament in Kumasi rather than South Africa.
The Black Stars, with a rich history of success in the AFCON, having won the title four times, most recently in 1982, will be aiming to overcome past defeats and secure victory in Ivory Coast.
The tournament, scheduled to commence on Saturday, January 13, will unfold until February 11, 2024. The Black Stars aim to script a successful chapter in their AFCON journey.
