Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has remained tight-lipped about the ongoing contract situation involving Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey.
With just two months remaining on Partey’s current deal, the club has yet to offer an extension, sparking interest from several top European sides.
Reports suggest both Barcelona and former club Atletico Madrid are closely monitoring the situation, ready to swoop in should negotiations with Arsenal stall.
Although Arteta previously indicated that discussions were moving in a positive direction, he chose not to elaborate further following Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace on Monday night.
“There’s already been an update on that. It’s not my place to share anything more,” Arteta stated when asked about Partey’s future.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding his contract, Partey has been a key figure for the Gunners this season, featuring in 47 matches across all competitions.
Unfortunately, he is set to miss the crucial UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg against Paris Saint-Germain.
