Mo Salah left the field during the second half of Liverpool’s match against Brighton due to injury. After the game, Jurgen Klopp explained what happened and reported that just before going for the ball, Salah overstretched his foot.
“He thinks it’s not serious but you can see when Mo’s sitting down and something is not 100% right. I think it was the situation before when he hit the ball and got blocked. I think the foot got slightly overstretched. We have to see”, said Klopp to ‘BT Sport’.
Whether or not the injury is a serious one, it is likely that the Egyptian will miss out on the match in midweek against Arsenal at the Emirates. Due to the game only being a few days away, Salah has little time to recover. It is more likely that he will return for the clash against Manchester United on matchday 30 which has been postponed due to Liverpool’s FA Cup meeting with Nottingham Forest.
Klopp will be hoping that the injury does not affect the team in the Champions League. Liverpool are now in the quarter finals of the competition and it is not ideal that Klopp is unable to fully count on one of his most important players. Salah will be hoping that there is enough time to treat and recover from the injury ahead of the next round.
