Mohammed Fuseini played a pivotal role in Union St. Gilloise’s commanding 3-0 victory over Kortrijk in their Belgian First Division A clash at Stade Joseph Mariën.
The Ghanaian forward opened the scoring in the 18th minute, converting a sharp pass from Mounaim El Idrissy to give Union the early lead.
Continuing their dominance, Union St. Gilloise capitalized on their possession early in the second half when Kortrijk’s Joao Silva inadvertently scored an own goal in the 51st minute, doubling the home side’s advantage. Despite some spirited efforts from Kortrijk, Union’s defense remained resolute.
Franjo Ivanovic sealed the victory in the 76th minute with a clinical finish, securing three points for the hosts. Fuseini, who impressed throughout the match, was substituted in the 85th minute to a warm reception from the crowd.
With this win, Union St. Gilloise has now recorded nine victories in their last ten encounters against Kortrijk, further strengthening their position in the league. They now turn their attention to their upcoming Europa League clash against Bodø/Glimt on October 3rd.
