Retired Arsenal star Adrian James Clarke believes Ghana international Kudus Mohammed is the perfect replacement for injured England winger Bukayo Saka, with the 23-year-old capable of stepping up in attack.
With Saka sidelined for an extended period this season, Kudus has been linked with a potential move to Arsenal in the January transfer window. Clarke, a revered figure at the Emirates Stadium, has urged his former club to make a move for the Ghanaian playmaker, believing that his talent mirrors that of the Nigerian-descent winger.
“Kudus is a player Arsenal have shown long-term interest in. He’s an ideal replacement for Bukayo Saka and can contribute up front as well,” Clarke told talkSPORT. “He’s a brilliant dribbler and a wonderful ball carrier. Could Arsenal test West Ham’s resolve with a bid this month?” he added.
Despite the speculation, it remains to be seen whether Arsenal will formalize an offer for the former Ajax midfielder, as they could face competition from Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester City, who are also reportedly interested in securing his signature.
Kudus has made a strong impression for West Ham this season, scoring 3 goals and providing 1 assist in 13 Premier League appearances. He has also earned 34 caps for Ghana, netting 11 goals for the Black Stars.
