Ajax coach Maurice Steijn has officially stated that Mohammed Kudus will be ready to play in the upcoming Dutch Eredivisie match against Heracles on Saturday.
The Ghanaian footballer has been a subject of interest from several European clubs, particularly those in the Premier League.
Brighton had entered into a tentative agreement with Ajax for a substantial 40 million euros transfer deal. However, the progress of this deal has encountered obstacles due to certain conditions put forth by the player’s representatives.
Steijn clarified, “I can confirm that Kudus can play tomorrow,” emphasizing that while there have been discussions surrounding Kudus, no concrete developments have transpired.
Expressing his contentment, the coach added, “I’m very happy that he’s with us tomorrow.”
Reports indicate that the 23-year-old midfielder is seeking the inclusion of a release clause in his contract as a prerequisite for his potential move.
Despite having a valid contract until 2025, Kudus displayed his ambition for new horizons by declining a one-year contract extension in April, signaling his eagerness for fresh challenges beyond his current tenure at the Johan Cruyff Arena.
Kudus has significantly impressed during his time with Ajax, accumulating an impressive total of 16 goals in 63 appearances in the Eredivisie.
Meanwhile, it’s noteworthy that Chelsea and Arsenal also retain their interest in the talented forward.
