Ghanaian born Qatari international Mohammed Muntari will spend the next six months in the treatment room.
The striker who netted Qatar’s only goal at the 2022 World Cup suffered a serious knee injury on Tuesday, January 3 when training with his side Al Duhail ahead of their league game with Al Gharafa.
The injury to Muntari is a big blow for coach Hernan Crespo as his partnership upfront with Kenyan star Michael Olunga has been superb.
Muntari’s could be back in June and may play the last couple of games before the season ends.
Al Duhail are third on the league table with 14 points from 7 games.
