Moses Armah, a member of the Black Stars Management Committee, has disclosed that each committee member received a $50,000 appearance fee for Ghana’s participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to Mr. Armah, the amount represented half of the appearance fee paid to the players. He explained that management committee members did not receive daily allowances or winning bonuses during the tournament.
He also revealed that he used part of his appearance fee to support pastors who offered prayers for him and the Black Stars throughout the World Cup campaign.
Mr. Armah’s comments come after Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams announced in October 2025 that members of the Black Stars Management Committee would receive financial rewards for helping the team qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. However, it remains unclear whether the $50,000 formed part of that reward package or was a separate payment.
Ghana reached the Round of 32 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after progressing from the group stage, marking the Black Stars’ first appearance in the knockout phase of the tournament in a decade.
