Aduana FC stunned defending champions Asante Kotoko to book a place in the MTN FA Cup quarterfinals, edging the Porcupine Warriors 4–2 on penalties after a tense goalless draw at full time.
The much-anticipated clash failed to produce goals in regulation time, as both sides battled fiercely but were unable to break each other down over 90 minutes.
The tie was eventually decided from the spot, where Aduana FC showed greater composure, converting four of their kicks while Asante Kotoko managed only two.
The result brings an end to Kotoko’s title defence and marks a major statement win for Aduana FC, who now march on in the competition.
Aduana FC will next take on Techiman Liberty Youth in the quarterfinals, as the MTN FA Cup continues to deliver surprises and high drama.
