Ghana giant Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC defeated Bechem United FC on penalties to progress in the MTN FA Cup competition on Monday afternoon.
The Porcupine Warriors despite taking a 2-0 lead inside 8 minutes saw Bechem United draw parity to force the game to a penalty shoot-out.
Uganda forward Steven Mukwala continued his scoring form for Kotoko this season with a 5th-minute opener before scoring his second three minutes later.
Bechem United’s Isaiah Nyarko pulled one back to end the first half 2-1.
The visitors drew level midway through the second half thanks to a deflected freekick from Francis Twene.The match ended 2-2 and headed straight to a penalty shootout.
Kotoko goalkeeper, Frederick Asare saved Joseph Kinful and Hafiz Konkoni’s kicks with Kotoko scoring all four to secure qualification to the next round.
