Following an outstanding display in which he secured two goals, the seasoned striker John Antwi has unveiled his objective, expressing his ultimate ambition of guiding Dreams FC towards a successful journey into the group stages of the 2023/24 CAF Confederations Cup season.
Having recently joined the Believers after concluding a lengthy tenure in Egypt, the 31-year-old’s primary focus is to contribute to the team’s African campaign by leveraging his wealth of experience and exposure.
After a drawn match against Milo FC de Kankan in the initial leg held in Conakry, Antwi demonstrated his prowess by scoring a double last Sunday. This pivotal performance propelled Dreams FC from a one-goal deficit to a 2-1 victory in the second leg, securing their progression to the subsequent qualifying round.
Their upcoming challenge will pit them against Sierra Leone’s FC Khallon, and they aim for another triumph to solidify their position in the playoffs.
During a press conference held after the match, the veteran marksman expressed his elation over their qualification and shifted his focus toward propelling the team to the lucrative stages of the tournament.
“First of all the goal was not for me alone but for the team and I think it has helped the team to go to the next stage.”
“So like from the beginning, I am coming to help the team with the little experience I have in Africa because I have been to the CAF Champions League final, I have been to the Confederation Cup final so I know how the terrain is.”
“Mine is just to help the team to go forward at least to the group stage, this is what we are working on and I know God willing we will get there”, he concluded
John Antwi boasts extensive familiarity with African football, having participated in numerous instances in both the CAF Champions League and the Confederations Cup. He has represented clubs such as Al Ahly, Al Masry, and Pyramid FC, showcasing his seasoned expertise on the continent’s stage.
