Khaled Abdullah Hamar Ain Al Dhaheri the vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Ain Football Club was keen to honor the former club player Asamoah Gyan on Tuesday night.

Gyan – who has 51 goals for Ghana as the all-time top scorer of the Black Stars – has picked the Gulf club as the best team he has ever played for.

Gyan scored an incredible 123 goals in 123 games for the Gulf club during his three-season stay in the United Arab Emirates between 2011 and 2015.

The famous African striker also played for Stade Rennes in France and Sunderland in England but according to Gyan his best pick is none of these European sides.

“It is difficult for me to express my feelings towards Al-Ain, the great club that I love and adore, and in which I spent a wonderful period, and I have memories that cannot fall from my memory, and I will not reveal a secret if I tell you that I consider it the best club ever for me, and personally, I am very happy to be back in my big home” Gyan said after being honored by the UAE side.

The short ceremony took place during half time of the Al Ain and Al Jazira match on Tuesday evening at the Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium.

The honoring ceremony was attended by members of the Board of Directors Salem Al-Junaibi and Majid Al-Owais.

After the end of the match, Asamoah Gyan also said in a press statement :

“I would like first to congratulate all Al-Ainawiya on the occasion of qualifying for the League Cup final, with all the sincere wishes of the team for payment and success.
