Ghanaian midfielder Forson Amankwah reveals that he patterns his playing style after Manchester City and Portugal standout Bernardo Silva.
Currently showcasing his talent with Red Bull Salzburg in Austria, Amankwah expressed his admiration for Silva in an interview with Flashscore Ghana, emphasizing the unique ability of the Manchester City player to retain possession despite his stature.
“The player I watch the most is Bernardo Silva because I like him so much. Anytime I watch him play, it looks like they’re going to take the ball away from him because he’s small but they never get the ball. He never loses the ball, so it makes him special. My target is to reach his level,” he said.
The West Africa Football Academy graduate has experienced swift progress in Austria, securing increased playtime for Salzburg in the current season.
At the season’s midpoint, Amankwah boasts a 65% start rate in league games, playing 57% of available minutes and contributing to 12% of Salzburg’s goals. Notably, he made his Champions League debut this season.
Despite being initially named in Ghana’s provisional squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, the 20-year-old did not make the final list for the tournament in Ivory Coast.
