Coach Kwesi Appiah has declared that his top priority is to lead Sudan to qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
Appiah, who was appointed as the head coach of the Sudanese national team in September 2023 on a long-term deal, has started the World Cup qualifiers on a promising note.
Sudan currently sits atop Group B with 10 points from four matches, two points ahead of the reigning African champions, Senegal. Under Appiah’s guidance, the Falcons of Jediane have achieved three victories and one draw in their qualifying campaign.
In an exclusive interview with Asempa FM, Appiah emphasized his commitment to securing World Cup qualification, stating, “My topmost priority is to qualify Sudan for the 2026 World Cup.” He acknowledged that Sudan has never reached the World Cup before and expressed hope that he can be the catalyst for this achievement. “I am hoping God uses me as a medium to achieve that,” he added.
Looking ahead, Sudan will face Senegal in their next qualifying match, aiming to maintain their position at the top of the group.
