NAC Breda technical director Peter Maas has hailed new signing Denis Odoi as a “fighter,” insisting the Ghanaian defender will bring immediate strength and experience to the team.
The 37-year-old full-back has joined the Dutch Eredivisie side on a free transfer until the end of the season, with an option for an additional year. His arrival comes at a crucial time, as the club battles a string of injuries affecting its defensive unit.
Odoi also links up again with Ghana international Kamal Sowah, rekindling a partnership previously seen during their time together in Belgium.
Speaking on the signing, Peter Maas said the club had been monitoring Odoi closely, especially during his most recent spell with Royal Antwerp.
“Beyond the current defensive injuries, this move also prepares us for the upcoming winter transfer window,” Maas explained.
“We know Denis from the past, and we followed him throughout last season at Antwerp. His passion and drive are still very strong. In our fight to stay in the Eredivisie, we are adding an extra fighter to the squad. He is fit and highly motivated to play for NAC.”
Odoi arrives with vast European experience. He has played for Club Brugge and Royal Antwerp in Belgium, and made over 170 appearances for Fulham across the Premier League and the Championship. He previously featured for KSC Lokeren, Sint-Truiden, and OH Leuven, after progressing through the academies of Anderlecht, Genk, and OH Leuven.
His leadership, versatility, and composure are expected to enhance Breda’s stability as they continue their push to maintain Eredivisie status.
