In a bold statement, Nations FC coach Kassim Mingle has proclaimed the end of an era for traditional powerhouses Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko in Ghanaian football, urging other clubs to seize the spotlight.

Mingle’s declaration comes as Nations FC, a newly promoted team in the Ghana Premier League, continues to make waves with their impressive performance this season.

Accumulating 44 points from 26 games, Nations FC has emerged as a formidable force, trailing only behind league leaders Samartex, who have garnered 49 points.

In contrast, both Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko have experienced a decline in form, with Hearts of Oak currently occupying the 9th position and Asante Kotoko languishing in 11th place.

Mingle’s confidence in his team’s ability to compete against these traditional giants is palpable in his statement.

“We’ve been meeting them and we’ve been beating them so what’s the big deal about it? I did not ask them (Hearts and Kotoko) not to play well. They bought a lot of seasoned players, we did not buy seasoned players. It’s time for other teams to improve. Previously, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko were dominating Ghana football but that era is past and gone,” Mingle asserted in an interview with 3 Sports.

With Nations FC poised to challenge the status quo, Mingle’s words reflect a growing confidence among emerging clubs, signaling a new era of competition and opportunity in Ghanaian football.
