Los Angeles Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal has offered to become the franchise’s new coach for 100 million dollars.
The Lakers are currently searching for a new coach after Frank Vogel was fired following the franchise’s disastrous season, and Shaq has named the condition for him to become the new coach next season.
“If the Lakers offered me 25 million dollars a year for four years, I would coach the Lakers,” O’Neal said.
“I would need a four-year contract. I would coach them right now.”
Best-paid coach in the NBA
The annual figure that he is asking for is more than double what the best-paid coach in the NBA earns right now.
Gregg Popovich, who coaches the San Antonio Spurs, currently earns a yearly salary of 11.5m dollars.
Shaq made these comments in light of rapper Master P’s interest in becoming the new Lakers coach with the former center at his side.
He went on to add that if the Lakers are not interested in his proposal, he would put his name forward for that price.
“Let’s just say they have a conversation with Master P and they don’t pick him, now I’ll just go in as a side meet and say, ‘Hey, I know you didn’t wanna consider my good friend Master P, but if you want me, this is the fee,” he said.
